Parent Information Meeting 2025
Local Girl Volleyball Club

Intro- Welcome to the informational meeting about Local Girl Volleyball Club
Get to know Eric Shick- Coach of 28 years. Director of Magnum VBC for 24 years. Other coaches
What is Club Volleyball? A league (from 4-8 months) that allows your daughter to get coaching from knowledgeable coaches and play with and against like minded players who also want to get better.
-
Different than rec league in that the coaches are former/current players and coaches and not parent volunteers.
-
Practices are designed by a master coach where all players are being taught the same technique and trained the same.
-
Players play in full day Tournaments where a team will play 4-6 matches in a day and 2 days tournaments as well.
-
Lots of reps training with other good players who want to get better.
-
Playing against other good players to challenge you to get better.
-
Unfortunately, the current Club volleyball model has evolved into something it doesn’t need to be.
-
Too expensive for the training and the travel
-
All of the clubs trying to out-do each other for the same top kids
-
Expecting families to give up a lot of time and money just to have their kid play volleyball.
-
What makes Local Girl VBC different from the others?
-
We want to provide a club with great coaching, playing local tournaments, that won’t break the bank for families.
-
Not in it for profit-The money we charge is to cover expenses and pay our coaches for their time.
-
In it for the training and developing the players for as inexpensively as possible-
-
1 day tournaments rather than multi0-day tournaments as much as possible.
-
scrimmages with local clubs.
-
-
Keep travel costs low- play in 1 day tournaments and within 2 hours of here. No required hotel stay unless you want to. Carpool when you can.
Practices- twice a week, 2 hours each, at BLHS Old Gym. Start in Dec.
Teams- We will have a U15s, 12s, 10s, and looking to have 1 more- a MS (14s/13s) team or a U11s team.
Coaches- The goal is to have 2 coaches on every team. This helps with training and growing coaches in the club. Coaches are former players and current coaches. Many of them played for me at Magnum.
Number to players on a team- 10 max going to tournaments. Some teams may have practice players.
Tournaments- on sheet. Goal is to stay local but still get teams in tournaments to challenge them.
Cost- listed on additional sheet. You can pay all at once or you can do monthly payments.
Cost is different for each team.
Full cost is based on:
-
Coaches pay- # of coaches and experience level of coach. You will pay the coach directly.
-
What tournament the team goes to- ½ day, full day, 2 day tournaments. All cost different amounts.
-
Court Cost for practice- Not set yet. Could decrease and lower your total cost.
-
Per Diem for coaches- Pays for gas and food for coaches at tournaments.
-
USAV membership- Free for U10 and under, $25/30 for U12 and under, $60 for U13 and up.
-
Gear- 2 uniforms, 2 practice shirts (hoping for sponsors), cover shorts- These are not included in dues.
-
Black Spandex, knee pads (white if you have), shoes- wear what you want/already have.
-
We want Local Sponsors- We want to give you a chance to get a sponsor for the club, your team, or your daughter. Unfortunately we are not a 501-C3 so they can’t write it off as a non-profit tax deduction but they can use it as advertising cost.
-
Club sponsor- will get their business name on the back of our practice shirt and the money will be used to help reduce cost for the whole club
-
Team Sponsor- will get their business name on the back of your teams warm up shirt and reduce cost for that team
-
Player sponsor/donation- A family member or friend can help out a specific player with their club dues. Or if anyone would like to help a player that could use a hand that is struggling to paying for their dues.
