Local Girl Volleyball Club is different than the other clubs in the area that are trying to compete with each other to see who can charge the most amount of money from their families and go to the farthest tournaments.
We feel that players can grow and better their skills through good coaching, being challenged to practice hard, and play in good tournaments that are in the area. There are things that can be done to get the competition that our teams need while staying close to home.
We choose to stay "LOCAL" and save money for our families. Travel costs can be more than 3-4 times the costs of club dues. We choose to give our families the option of driving back home at night to save the cost of a hotel stay. Our younger teams in play in 1 day tournaments as much as possible because they can get 4-5 matches in one day rather than getting only 5 matches in 2 days. Our club and power level teams play in tournaments that are all within 1.5 hours of the Midlands area of SC. For our Elite teams we selectively add tournaments if ALL families agree to going outside of this range. We don't force anyone to pay above their means.

Here is what is going on right now.
The 2026 season will be wrapping up on May 3rd, 2026! It has been a great season with many of our teams having success at multiple tournaments.
Tryouts are coming up soon in July for the 2027 season for U14s-U17s. Exact dates will be posted soon. Click on the Tryout page for all details.
U13s and under team tryouts will be in late October/ Early November.

The 2027 season will start practicing in December of 2026 and go through the end of April, 2027
Summer Tryouts (July) are for the 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s teams only. We do tryouts for the younger players after their middle school and fall rec season at the end of October.
Fall Tryouts (October)
for all ages U13s and under will be in Late October.
13U (most 7th graders)
12U (most 6th graders)
10s and 11s (most 4th and 5th graders)

This thinking, that is shared in the above article, is how Local Girl VBC came about. After coaching club for almost 30 years we have seen club volleyball morph into what it is today. We feel it can be different.
